Julia Skene-Wenzel

Julia Skene-Wenzel: Dancing and movement have always been part of my life and since my childhood have been a great source of happiness to me. I came to Pilates and Yoga, while studying Modern Dance in London. Pilates enabled me to recover from a back injury and opened my eyes to the wonders of the human body and its ability to constantly adapt and meet new challenges.

After finishing my dance degree, I went onto completing my Pilates- and Yoga-teacher training with the Pilates Foundation UK and the British Wheel of Yoga. Both methods allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of anatomy, breath control and the facilitation of free-flowing movement, the balance of strength and flexibility and the joy of fluid motion.

I have been working as a free-lance Pilates- and Yoga-teacher since 2004. After successfully running my own Pilates studio Pilates Sanctuary in London, I opened Pilates am Platz in Haidhausen, Munich in 2014. I have a wide range of experience in fitness training, as well as supporting the rehabilitation of back, hip, knee and shoulder-problems and I have specialised in ante-and postnatal Pilates training.

I am a passionate teacher and I firmly belief that Pilates and Yoga should be accessible to everyone, who is interested in sports, movement and in changing their body. I feel very fortunate to have found such a fulfilling profession, as well as being the mother of three lovely children.

“Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness.” Joseph Pilates
